A large variety of extra-mural activities is offered in an effort to ensure that there is something that will appeal to everyone. The activities are of a sporting, cultural or academic nature. Many are offered to different age groups e.g. Art Club is divided into two groups: Grade One to Two and Grade Three to Seven. Some are offered only in season, e.g. swimming or cricket. Most are included in the school fees but a few require a fee. This is when a professional coach, who is an expert in his/her field, is brought in by the school, e.g. Karate. In such cases the fee is paid directly to the coach.
Each term a full extra-mural programme is sent home with each child and parents are requested to sit down with their child to decide on the activities in which their child would like to participate. Please remember your child is expected to commit to the extra-mural chosen for a term.
Teachers take a register and pupils not reporting for their chosen activity are expected to bring a note from their parents.
We feel that it is very important that each and every one of the children participate in at least one active summer sport and one in winter as well. This is, after all, when young people should enjoy participating and exercising their growing bodies. Unfortunately too many of our children are quite inactive and often spend too much time watching television or playing computer games.
