Rugby
Eager, talented young players, a dynamic coaching staff and top notch facilities combine to make Durbanville Preparatory School the powerhouse of mini rugby in the greater Cape area. When our Headmaster, Mr Dolph Nortier, started at the school, we had 2 rugby teams. Today the school hosts an astounding 22 teams, each with its own dedicated coach, and of the 350 boys in our school, 195 are active players. The school annually hosts the Bon Mella Mini Rugby Day, second only to the WP Mini Rugby Day as the biggest Mini Festival in the Western Cape and in 2008 gave 1 500 boys the chance to play the game they learning to love. The school can contribute much of the development and success to Future Rugby, with Manny Senger at the helm, a company that specializes in rugby skills coaching who has been with the school since 2000.
They offer extra rugby on Tuesday and is highly recommended. The school offers rugby on a Monday and Thursday, with matches on Wednesdays and some Saturdays.
Netbal
Oor die laaste dekade onderskei Durbanville Voorberedigingskool homself as die pasaangeër in Mini Netbal in ons area en reg oor die provinsie. Buiten al ons talentvolle jong speelsters, waarvan 170 uit die 330 dogters in die skool aktief deelneem, kan die skool staatmaak op ‘n afrigterskorps waarvan enige ander skool net kan droom – ‘n Klomp passievolle dames wat hul kennis en ervaring gebruik om ons dogters die hoogtes te laat bereik wat ons skool se netbalnaam op almal se tonge hou. Die skool bied jaarliks die Fair Cape Netbalnaweek aan. In 2008 is die sewende weergawe van die toernooi aangebied en ‘n rekordgetal skole en speelsters het die toernooi bygewoon. Die skool se 0/9 dogters kry ook elke jaar die geleentheid om te toer, iets wat op hierdie ouderdom nie vir baie beskore is nie en inderdaad ‘n voorreg is vir al die Graad 3 dogters wat dit meemaak. Netbaloefeninge geskied op ‘n Maandag en Donderdag, terwyl wedstryde op Woensdae en sommige Saterdae plaasvind. Opsionele netbalklinieke word op Donderdae aangebied en word sterk aanbeveel.
Krieket
Waar gaan die volgende Shaun Pollock of Jacques Kallis vandaan kom? Met ons skool se krieketresultate en die kwaliteit wat jaar in en jaar uit deur die bekwame hande van ons afrigters gaan, kan ‘n mens jou ore maar fyn spits, êrens in die nabye toekoms gaan ons van ‘n klein Durbie hoor! Weereens is Furture Cricket een van die belangrike skakels in die ketting. Manny Senger (UCB Level 3 coaching qualification) is tans die WP onder 13 afrigter en met sy span afrigters wat op Vrydae bietjie ekstra skaafwerk doen, verskaf hul ‘n waardevolle diens om uiteindelik ons afgeronde spelers reg te kry vir wedstryddag. Ons het tans ‘n ongelooflike 23 spanne wat elk oor sy eie afrigter beskik en 190 van die 350 seuns in ons skool speel krieket. Afrigting geskied op Maandae en Donderdae en wedstryde word elke Woensdag deur die seisoen gespeel. Ons neem aan verskeie toernooie oor naweke deel wat Hermanus en Grabouw insluit. Massadeelname is ons trots en om soveel kinders die geleentheid te gee om deel te neem bly ‘n groot pluimpie vir ons skool.
Hockey
As arelatively new sport at our school, hockey is inits infant stanges. But beware the awakening giant! In a short space of time Durbie Hockey, under the guidance of Michelle Kelly, our Head of Hockey, has developed into a force to be reckoned with. We currently have 65 hockey players and the school is in the starting fases of constructing our own hockey field to
accommodate the growing demand and give the players the specialized resources they need to excel in their chosen sport. The amount of matches being played is rapidly pciking up and our players are given every chance to go out and enjoy their hockey. Practice days are on Mondays and Thursdays with most matches taking place on Saturdays. Extra hockey clinics are held from time to time to make sure we develop our youngsters to their full potential. The giant is starting to find its feet…

Many might think that kids of this age just splash around when it comes to swimming. At Durbanville Prep we would like to differ. If our local swimming gala is anything to go by, among our buckets full of talented swimmers we may just produce the next Ryk Neethling! Interested parents can contact the school for information on the best coaches we have to offer, times and much more. Swimming at this age is fun and the physical development of a child is invaluable.
Trompoppies
Dogters word elke jaar uit Graad 2 en 3 gekies om aan die Trompoppies deel te neem.
Most girls dream of being a drummie one day, wearing the boots and “busby”.
At the start of each year a lot of effort is put into learning the new sequence. Practices are held daily until the first athletics meeting takes place. Each year our drummies get invited to Hermanus to show off their co-ordination skills. This gives us the opportunity to arrange a funfilled weekend, which starts off with hamburgers at the Spur the Friday evening. We sleep over and after the Saturday’s performance a wonderful picnic is enjoyed at Voëlklip.
Landloop
Hier is die perftekte geleentheid om van ons jonges se ekstra energie ontslae te raak! Ons skool neem deel aan die streek se liga byeenkomste op Vrydae en ons resultate is besig om ‘n opwaartse kurwe te toon. Ons het ongeveer 10 leerders wat op gereelde basis aan liga byeenkomste deelneem en ons doel is om nog meer Durbies aan die hardloop te kry!
